This poor girl, like so many in the Middle East, struggle each day to do simple everyday things like go to school. Could you imagine someone telling you, you cannot go to school because you are a girl. That you are not to get an education, make goals and have aspirations for yourself and for your future. That you are supposed to sit at home and care for your husband and possible children at the age of 17. Its insane, but that is reality for a lot of girls in the Middle East. Shamsia is a lucky girl to have the opportunity to go to school and to have someone who cares enough about woman's rights to challenge the Taliban everyday just to allow these girls such a simple freedom. As I am reading this article, I think of my book, Veils of Roses. The book is fiction however, the main character portrays the lives of so many girls in Iraq. She speaks of the freedom she is so unaware of in her country and how in the US we take it for granted. This is so true. As my parents are from Egypt, I have gone to visit the numerous times. My last visit made me realize how lucky I am to have all these opportunities at my expense. I want to go to college? There is no one telling me not to. I get to choose who and when I marry, what I want to wear, where I want to go--alone, everything is MY choice, after all it is my life. I just hope that everyone reads this article and stops to be thankful for what they have. It is not so easy in other countries and I hope one day that peace and freedom can be offered to all girls all around the world as we all deserve that simple right.
I also hope that Shamsia's father decides to allow her to get medical treatment. The overwhelming support of generous people all over the world, deserves to go straight to helping this girl. I hope her father sees her potential and not use the money selfishly. The article stated that the author and Shamsia's family will meet after today's election in Afghanistan. I hope they make the right decision.
It's Britney BITCH! Damn straight, girlfriend is backkk. Her concert was all-round fun. She is entertaining, magical and knows how to put on a show...aka make her money. Of course she didnt sing a lick of the concert but it was nonetheless a good time. She appropriately started off the night with (my fave) "Circus" and ended the event with her comeback hit "Womanizer." She didn't sing "Oops, I Did It Again" or "Stronger" which were some of her greatest hits but she did embrace us with her classics "(Hit Me) Baby One More Time" "Toxic" and "I'm A Slave." I was ecstatic to see her old dance moves come out to all these songs, because it showed she still got in her. Her new dance moves aren't exactly "old Brit" but she broke it down a few times and proved that Mama is Charge! Overall I was pleased with the concert. I felt like mother watching her child succeed! I was proud. :)
I'm currently reading Veil of Roses by Laura Fitzgerald. It was another one of those random buys from Target the other day. It's a story about an Persian girl who gets a one way ticket to America on her 27th birthday in order to "go and wake up her luck." Her parents send her off to find love and life in a country where a woman can freely do both these things without harassment or belittlement. I am only a few pages in but find it very intriguing. I enjoy the random Arabic/Farsi words in which I can relate too! I'll give you a final review once I'm done.
Finally got to see (500) Days of Summer! I thought the movie was perfection. The story line was just so real and depicts love, breakups, and relationships so well. I found myself laughing and crying which makes a great movie in my book. Zooey Deschanel and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are too freaking adorable together and had great chemistry in this movie. Throughout the movie, I found myself loving the relationship between Summer and Tom, but as the movie went on I, along with, Tom realize that love is not a movie script and the bullshit fairytale stuff isn't real. The writing was definitely well done and over all I thought the movie was really good.
I sure hope this is fake...or just a friendly holding of the hands. Robert Pattinson is a dreamboat and well Kristen Stewart is a hottmess. Don't approve.
